Bushbaby

The harsh, unforgiving sun beat down on the thatched roof of the lapa in Marloth Park. A beam of light, a traitor, slipped through a gap in the woven reeds and landed squarely on his face. Kiki is a bushbaby, a nocturnal creature, and daylight was his enemy.

Normally, Kiki would be curled up, hidden deep within the cool, dark heart of the thatch, but today, the sun had found him, and he was awake.

Peeking cautiously through the thatch, his enormous golden eyes blinking against the glare, he saw a world he rarely experienced.
