L’Hoest Monkey

L’Hoest’s monkeys, also known as mountain monkeys, are a striking primate species found in the dense rainforests of Uganda. Characterized by their distinctive white beards and dark fur, these monkeys are primarily terrestrial, spending much of their time foraging on the forest floor for fruits, leaves, insects, and small vertebrates. They typically live in small, stable groups led by a single male. Uganda offers some of the best opportunities to observe these elusive creatures in their natural habitat.
