Lioness on the lookout

The arid landscape held its breath, every blade of savanna grass frozen in anticipation. High alert reigned in the amber eyes of the lioness, a primal focus that transcended the buzzing irritations swarming her face. Not even the persistent flies, daring to land on her muzzle, could break the steely concentration of a predator on the prowl.
